Levels of School Intervention Strategies

This session is focused on identification and intervention strategies for school leaders and school staff. Participants assess their readiness to support at-risk students at the appropriate level, identify their needs for successful use, and develop action plans successful implementation.
 

Outcomes:

Participants extend their understanding of universal screeners to include follow-up strategies – including different levels of support and intervention. They will learn how universal screener procedures can not only help to identify at-risk students for early intervention but can inform and support school staff plans for interventions and support structures.
 

District Staff

• An introduction to risk factors and levels of intervention
• An assessment of district collections of strategies, programs, and materials to identify areas of strength and weakness in identifying and supporting at-risk students
• An assessment of district policies, procedures, and planning templates to identify their level of congruence to the needs of the wellness initiative
• An action plan for preparing school leadership teams to implement the district wellness initiative

School Leadership Teams

• An introduction to risk factors and levels of intervention
• An assessment of school collections of strategies, programs, and materials currently used to identify students at-risk
• An assessment of school policies, procedures, and teacher planning expectations to identify their level of congruence to the school wellness initiative
• An action plan for developing a school culture and climate that will provide an optimum environment for teaching and learning
• An action plan for preparing teachers to implement the school wellness plan
• A data management plan to monitor teacher implementation and the impact of implementation on at-risk students

School Staff

• An introduction to risk factors and levels of intervention
• An assessment of current practice in identifying and supporting students who are at-risk
• An assessment of classroom policies, procedures, and classroom planning to identify their level of congruence to the needs of the school wellness initiative
• A personal action plan for preparing and implementing the school wellness initiative
• A plan for developing the classroom climate and culture to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all students

Each session ends with a personalized action plan based on that day’s learning. Also, each session will review the user experience and query suggestions from participants via an anonymous e-mail survey. Optionally, a check-for-understanding assessment can be included.
