There can be many umbrella terms under the same standard. In this same standard, different genres are mentioned. Analysis of test items identified several genres that can serve as a venue for reading questions.
In the summer before school opens, teachers need to assess the genre expectations for their grade level or their subject matter and determine if it is taught, where it is taught, and at what point do we expect students to master the use of that genre.
